The College has made notable accomplishments in developing high-caliber talent by offering fully funded opportunities for teachers to study abroad and engage in various academic activities. It boasts a robust faculty comprising over 20 distinguished scholars from various fields and over 60 faculty members who hold doctoral degrees from renowned international universities.

 

[Talent Cultivation]

The College takes talent training as its foundation. Its admission score for undergraduates has consistently been at the top of Sun Yat-sen University. Over 50% of graduates pursue further education, and over 90% of these students studying abroad have been admitted by the world’s top 100 universities. Its economics and finance major has been recognized as the national first-class undergraduate major construction site under the “Double Ten Thousand Plan” (10,000 first-class undergraduate courses at the national level and 10,000 courses at the provincial level). In 2021, it was selected as a 2.0 base of the Ministry of Education’s Training Program for Excellent Students in Basic Disciplines. The Master of Finance program ranked 60th globally and 4th in China according to the Financial Times (FT) Rankings. The Global Master Program in International Business has been consistently ranked as one of the top programs in the world, securing the 11th rank in the 2021 FT Rankings and the 9th rank in the 2022 QS Rankings. [Academic Research]

The College’s economics and business subject ranks among the top 1% of the Essential Science Indicators (ESI). The College had both Theoretical Economics and Applied Economics rated with an A designation in the first China Subjects Rating released by The Times Higher Education (THE) in 2021. From 2015 to 2021, the College has been awarded more than 10 major and special funding projects by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Social Science Foundation of China.

 

[International Cooperation]

The College is dedicated to effectively disseminating China’s narrative and enhancing the international presence of Chinese higher education. It has established long-term partnerships and collaborations with over 50 universities across the globe, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Yale University, Oxford University, and the University of Minnesota.

During the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, the College will step up efforts to build two first-level disciplines: Theoretical Economics and Applied Economics. I. “Hundred Talent Program” of Sun Yat-sen University

 

1. Leading Talent (Professor): Eligible candidates are required to possess the capability to contribute to research activities centered around significant innovations, involving a wide range of development prospects and key generic technologies. They should have achieved landmark accomplishments, which demonstrate their significant innovations and substantial impact within their respective fields. They should possess a significant influence at home and abroad. Their academic status should match well with their academic capability, or they should have exceptional academic accomplishments in the field of humanities and social sciences. The candidate should be under the age of 50.

 

2. Young and Middle-aged Outstanding Talent (Professors/Associate Professors): Candidates should display exceptional potential for scientific research and technological innovation, with research orientations that offer significant innovative prospects. Additionally, their professional and scientific research accomplishments must be acknowledged at home and abroad. Candidates should be aged 43 or below.

 

3. Young Academic Backbone (Associate Professor): Candidates are expected to possess active and innovative thinking, with strong capabilities in innovation. They should demonstrate outstanding potential for professional development and achieve high-level and innovative accomplishments in their respective fields.  The age limit for this position is below 38.

 

4. Excellent Young Talent (Assistant Professor): The ideal candidate for the position should possess a strong background in education and scientific research. They should exhibit active and innovative thinking, as well as significant potential for development. The age limit for this position is below 35.

 

II. Full-time Researchers of Sun Yat-sen University

 

1. Distinguished Researchers: Candidates must have prior experience working as postdoctoral fellows, lecturers, or assistant professors in domestic or abroad universities and research institutions. Candidates must have achieved at least three notable accomplishments, with some flexibility for exceptional candidates with fewer but particularly outstanding achievements. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in managing or participating in projects at or above the provincial and ministerial levels.  The age limit for this position is below 38.

 

2. Distinguished Associate Research Fellow: Candidates must have undergone rigorous academic training in both domestic and foreign universities and research institutions, with great potential for academic success. They must have achieved at least two notable accomplishments, with the possibility of reducing this number to one for exceptional candidates. The age limit for candidates shall be 38 years or  below.

 

3. Postdoctoral Researcher: Eligible candidates for this position are required to have obtained a doctoral degree within the past three years, possessing both high academic levels and strong scientific research capabilities. They should not exceed the age of 35 and must have a demonstrated track record of excellent achievements in academic research both domestically and internationally.
